***IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE: Given the ongoing concerns around COVID-19 and its impact on our New Jersey community, we have come to the heartbreaking decision to cancel Camp NOVA 2020. This will be the first time we have ever had to cancel Camp in our 31 year history.
We are regularly participating in all available trainings and communications with the American Camping Association as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics to insure we are prepared to implement these guidelines when they become available. Given the information that has been released and the current state of COVID-19 in New Jersey, we feel it is in our campers’ and counselors’ best interest to cancel Camp NOVA and re-open for the 2021 camp season.
We recognize and feel the disappointment of this decision and can’t imagine a summer without Camp NOVA. We are working hard to plan alternative opportunities for any pre-registered campers to participate in this summer. We are exploring fun and engaging virtual options during the week of camp as well as potential in-person opportunities when New Jersey is re-opened. As soon as guidelines are released for what we can do, we will develop a firm plan and communicate it our pre-registered campers.
We wish you continued safety and health during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Veronica Diaforli, SR VP Programs at [email protected] or Kerrie Hannen, Camp Director at [email protected] .
Camp NOVA is a wonderful opportunity for youth and adults living with epilepsy and other developmental disabilities to enjoy summer camp. Camp NOVA is a 7 day, 6-night overnight camp where individuals participate in group and individual activities and make memories that last a lifetime. Camp activities include but are not limited to: arts and crafts, boating, swimming, adaptive ropes course, and more!
